The Mobile Canteen travels with a propane barbeque and a "serve through" counter. Hot dogs are prepared and served as well as snacks and beverages. It also features an XBOX and flat screen TV located on the outside of the Mobile Canteen for those looking to play video games. The Mobile Canteen also offers the United Through Reading program as well as Wi-Fi for those with laptops.
Why do you need a new Mobile Canteen?
While the vehicle was renovated this year, and is safe to use and operate, the Mobile Canteen is not a vehicle originally designed for such use. Lack of space and excessive costs related to gas consumption and wear and tear are factors.
What will the new Mobile Canteen provide?
USONW is exploring multiple options including the purchase of a new or gently used mobile coach which can be equipped to enable more programs and food services when deployed. Other options include a small fleet of vans to enhance service of smaller deployments, gatherings and community events.
What will be the service area for the new Mobile Canteen?
In addition to serving the Yakima Training Center, dockside deployments, homecomings and community events, the new Mobile Canteen will increase its scope of visits to Fairchild AFB as well as military bases in Oregon and Idaho.

Tentative plans provide for the overall enhancement of the new Mobile Canteen by June, 2014.
