In desperate need of renovation, the USONW Board of Directors decided to borrow against operational funds and remodel the Shali Center. The renovations were necessary to improve the efficiencies of the center.
What does the center provide?
Included in the remodel is a fully modernized kitchen equipped to allow full service offerings, commercial grade coffee maker, soda fountain, increased number of computer stations equipped with free Wi-Fi, free long distance phone service, five large screen TV's with cable, DVD and gaming, a 30% larger lounge area and enhanced exterior signage.
Where is the center located?
The Shali Center is located on McChord Airfield at Joint Base Lewis McChord.
How did the Shali Center get it's name?
The Shali Center is named after the late General John Shalikashvili, a USO supporter and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs under President Clinton, and his widow and USONW Board Member and volunteer Joan.
What is the cost of the new center?
The final cost of the project: $384,000.
