The USO Northwest has vast array of programs and services available to military and dependents. Below is information on each, including which staff member to contact.
To support our deploying military and their families with healthy food and snack options at our USO Northwest centers through our Good-4-You Program. We also have developed Good-2-Go bags so military members can take them on their overseas flights. To support this program, contact Tim Bogle at [email protected].
Service members who deploy through our USO NW Shali Center are given a Care Package containing necessary travel items such as toiletries, snacks, and reading material. Orders can be placed for deployments not going through the Shali Center; contact Andrew Oczkewicz at [email protected].
USONW aims to provide service members with as much entertainment as possible. In 2011 Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan band played two, free concerts for service members and in 2012 Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for July 4's Freedom Fest. USONW is there to offer any assistance to the traveling families of our fallen heroes. Staff are specially trained, and work with airlines to make things as easy as possible. Contact Matt Sult at [email protected] with inquiries.
During the Holiday Season USONW hosts its annual Holiday Food and Toy drive. Collection areas can be found at Walmarts in the Puget Sound as well as the Microsoft Store at University Village. Contact Jennifer Kelly for further inquiries.
At Cheney Stadium, the Heroes Suite is available to active-duty and dependents. The suite is catered, holds up to 30 people and is available for all Tacoma Rainiers’ home games. For more information contact Pam Demian at [email protected].
Each month three recently returned service members and their significant other enjoy a free night stay at a luxury hotel in Washington State. Contact Jennifer Kelly at [email protected] for more information.
In the fall USO NW sponsors this half marathon to bring awareness of Post Traumatic Stress. The race is held in Gig Harbor. USO NW Volunteers congratulate runners at the finish line. Contact Vic Lee at [email protected] with further inquiries.
Sesame Street entertains military children and families with a show at our local military bases. A new character, Molly, helps share deployment stories. The shows are always free to military and dependents. Contact Jennifer Kelly at [email protected] with inquires.
USO Northwest sets aside money to fund events for Wounded Warriors, three to five times a month. Some examples of events: river rafting, Seattle Underground Tour, sports games. Contact Gina Luplow with further inquiries.
