The Executive Committee is comprised of the Officers of the Board of Directors and is empowered to act between Board meetings. It also serves as the Personnel Committee as needed.
The Resource Development Committee is responsible for fundraising activities of the USO NW with a focus on special events but in coordination with corporate giving, grants and other funding sources.
The Board Development Committee serves as a Nominating Committee for the USO NW but has broader responsibilities in identifying and recruiting potential committee and Advisory Council members who do not serve in a Board capacity.
The Program Development Committee ensures that USO NW facilities and non-revenue programs meet the evolving needs of those we serve. Some members are also on the Helping Hands mini-grants approval committee.
The Community Relations Committee coordinates marketing and public outreach activities that raise community understanding of the USO NW mission, capabilities and accomplishments. It works through a variety of communications channels and technologies to inform service members, potential donors and volunteers about the many ways the USO NW improves the quality of life for our military members and their families.
The USO Northwest is developing four supplemental advisory councils to assist in meeting our mission. They are:
Senior Enlisted Advisory Council – This body has been in operation for two years to provide direct inputs on the needs of enlisted service members. Their advice helps formulate new USO programs or capabilities, such as the Internet Cafe at NAS Whidbey Island.
Advisory Council – Prominent civic and business leaders will advise USO NW leadership on programs and resources that best leverage the capabilities of the USO in the broader context of the Puget Sound community.
Military Liaison Council – Current senior officers in their respective services and selected retired flag officers residing in the Northwest act in an ex-officio capacity as advisors and a conduit of regional initiatives between active/reserve/guard units and the USO NW.
Emeritus College – Previous USO Chairmen remain a resource for council and support through participation in this exclusive body.
